Pro-Phage Inc.
Pro-Phage, a start-up company created in 1991 from a technology transfer from Hôpital Ste-Anne, has just received (February 2005) financing of CAN$ 2.4 million to start industrial production of its therapeutic food designed to allow dysphagia pa- tients to be fed normally. Many elderly are dying because they cannot eat enough. The patented technology, developed by Dr. Therèse Dufresne, CEO, is a process by which food texture is modi- fied and reconstituted to look and taste like the original. Pro-Phage produces 40 different menus, from milk to garden salad in aspic.
