This month, I would like to speak to you about entrepreneurship in life sciences. As in many other sectors, SMEs are central to our industrial fabric since they represent 94% of our businesses. For a few years now, we have been working to help the smallest companies in developing and achieving their growth objectives. Furthermore, in order to meet one of their needs, in collaboration with Concordia University and Université de Montréal, we have developed a life sciences entrepreneurship development program. This practical and immersive training receives significant financial support from the Quebec Government through the Secrétariat à la région métropolitaine and a number of private partners, including IRICoR, Fonds de solidarité FTQ and Pfizer Canada. This initiative is part of one of the strategic priorities of our business plan to develop the platform to support SMEs and contribute to the success of other entities already in place, such as the Mentorat bioSuccès mentoring network. In the cluster, we want to see the next large company, in the same league as the Amgens or Gileads of the world, emerge and flourish  in Montréal. I firmly believe that it’s possible. Last week, we were organizing, with a number of partners from the life sciences venture capital community, a panel on growth and expansion financing, in the presence of Ministers Anglade and Barrette. So what was the main message I took away from these conversations? Even if all the ingredients for success are in place, to achieve true success, we need to convince the institutional investors to invest in this asset class. How? By having them meet our most innovative companies to have the opportunity to explain to them their business models, their strategies and highlight the entrepreneurial talent we have right here in Québec. This is how we will achieve our goals…
