EFFERVESCENCE 2022 ended on a high note last month when Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon hosted the unveiling of the Québec Life Sciences Strategy (QLSS). A few days later, the Minister launched the Quebec Research and Innovation Investment Strategy (SQRI2). Quebec is now better equipped than ever to effectively address the challenges of innovation in various fields and of course in life sciences. It is very motivating and gratifying to have such support from the government when we go to take part in an international event like BIO, which was held a few days ago in San Diego. I felt this energy in the Quebec pavilion which, once again, distinguished itself by its size and beautiful design, but especially by the number of B2B meetings that were held there. Also, meeting space was hardly lacking. It is the image of a Quebec in action and in business that we all projected during this year’s event, which symbolized the return of large-scale, in-person events.

During BIO, there was a lot of talk about biomanufacturing, which is normal given the advantageous situation created by the arrival of several major players in Montréal. Another aspect less discussed but just as important for our sector is the digital transformation of our manufacturing companies, an inevitable transformation to gain in productivity and be able to stand up to the competition. I think we should look at it strategically and the Digital Transformation Offensive (OTN) of the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation seems to be an interesting program to support our manufacturing companies. If you are interested in this area, we would love to hear from you.

By the way, maybe this could be a good topic for the next edition of EFFERVESCENCE? In any case, stay tuned, we will soon publish the call for applications for the organization of the 2023 edition of the event. Start thinking about the themes you would like to propose.

And finally, summer has arrived and the Montréal InVivo team will be taking a short break from the newsletter for the summer season but we will be back in early September. Until then, I would like to wish you a wonderful summer and hope you take the time to enjoy it and recharge your batteries. See you soon!
