Montréal InVivo proudly celebrates its 15th anniversary, marking an important milestone in its journey as a leading organization in the field of life sciences and health technologies. Over the past 15 years, Montréal InVivo has established itself as a catalyst for innovation, a growth engine and a key player in the development of the life sciences ecosystem in Québec.

Through its mobilization force, its voice as a privileged independent interlocutor of the public authorities and its ability to initiate and carry out structuring projects for the sector, the cluster now brings together more than 600 organizations, including more than 150 research centers and groups, 80 subsidiaries of world-class companies and more than 46,883 jobs, creating a dynamic and collaborative community. It assumes a unifying leadership of its players to strengthen the growth of the sector, its competitiveness and its influence, and to distinguish itself as an innovative, collaborative and sustainable ecosystem.

…Its commitment to sustainable development

Montreal InVivo promotes responsible business practices and supports innovation in sustainable health, among others through EFFERVESCENCE, which each year collaborates with the Conseil québécois des events écoresponsables to ensure respect for sustainable development and guarantee responsible operations during the event. This initiative reduces the ecological footprint of the event, contributes to reducing the overconsumption of resources and waste as well as greenhouse gas emissions, in addition to raising awareness among partners and participants.

EFFERVESCENCE: The Futur of Life Sciences

It was in 2018 that Montreal InVivo decided to bring together several partners to create a new major event in the LSHT sector in Montreal. EFFERVESCENCE offers researchers, companies and players in the life sciences sector a unique opportunity to network, build business relationships, participate in inspiring conferences and discover new developments in the industry, all in an experiential and stimulating environment.

Life Sciences Entrepreneurship Development Program

One of the great achievements of 2017 is unequivocally the creation of the Life Sciences Entrepreneurship Development Program, an unprecedented collaboration between Montreal InVivo, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université de Montréal and Concordia University’s John Molson Executive Centre. This practical and immersive training is aimed at scientists and professionals in the life sciences sector to enable them to develop management skills.

BIOSUCCÈS Mentoring Network

Created by the initiative of Montréal InVivo in 2011, the BIOSUCCÈS Mentoring Network’s mission is to contribute to the success of entrepreneurs in the Life Sciences and Health Technologies sector (LSHT), by offering them the support of experienced mentors. The BIOSUCCÈS Mentoring Network is affiliated with the M Network of the Entrepreneurship Foundation and acts within it as a unit specialized in LSHT for all of Quebec.

Exploring LSHT Careers

This initiative was introduced in the summer of 2012 by one of Montréal InVivo’s Strategic Committees asa pilot project in collaboration with Montréal Relève. Since then, every year, around 40 young people from the third and fourth year of high school have been visiting companies in the sector to better understand the career opportunities.

NÉOMED Innovation Center

Established in 2012 at the initiative of Montréal InVivo and in close collaboration with its Steering Committee, the NEOMED Institute addresses the changes in the R&D business models in the pharmaceutical industry. Today, the NEOMED Innovation Center is now part of a key component of adMare BioInnovations, a global Canadian company that is transforming the landscape of the Canadian life sciences ecosystem.

Early Stage Clinical Trials Initiative

Launched in 2013, the Early Stage Clinical Trials Initiativebenefited from substantial support from the sector’s various stakeholders. Montréal InVivo then devised a strategic development plan established over 5 years. The Government of Quebec’s 2016-2017 budget allocated to it $5.3 million in funding, which led to the creation of CATALIS, housed today within the CQDM. CATALIS promotes the profile of excellence in clinical research in Quebec and facilitates collaboration between the different stakeholders in the life sciences sector in order to accelerate the development of new treatments.

Personalized Health Care Initiative

Launched in 2011, the Personalized Health Care Initiative sparked much interest in the community. The energy of the mobilization around Montréal InVivo managed to convince the Government of Quebec to add a sixth mobilizing project to the Quebec research and innovation strategy. Following a contest organized by the Ministry of Economy, the Personalized Medicine Partnership for Cancer, a $20.5-million project (public-private), supported 40 jobs in 14 SMEs and six research centres. The Quebec Network for Personalized Health Care, a not-for-profit organization, also emerged from the initiative of Montréal InVivo. It is responsible for ensuring the visibility of the niche of excellence and organizes most notably the International Congress on Personalized Health Care.

Biopharmaceutical research consortium (CQDM)

One of the first impactful projects on which Montréal InVivo worked was the development and initial funding of CQDM. Since its inception in 2008, CQDM has raised more than $65 million in contributions. It implemented 11 funding programs, launched 28 competitions and evaluated 788 research projects, for a total of more than $109 million requiring funding.
