An inter-cluster project to accelerate the decarbonization of Quebec companies

In the face of the climate emergency, new international regulations, and growing pressure from markets and investors, the transition toward low-carbon economic models is no longer optional. It has become a strategic necessity for the competitiveness, resilience, and attractiveness of our companies.

The Industries Mobilized for Climate Action and Transition (I.M.P.A.C.T.) project was born out of this shared realization. Led by six Quebec industrial clusters, this large-scale initiative aims to mobilize, prepare, and support businesses in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Why this project?

The risks are real for companies that delay action. Yet, while 82% of Quebec businesses believe it is urgent to act, nearly half have not yet taken any concrete steps.

This project seeks to close the gap between intention and action by providing a concrete, collective framework to initiate or accelerate decarbonization.

A project to position Quebec

By supporting companies in reducing their GHG emissions, we contribute to:

  • Meeting Quebec’s and Canada’s climate targets for 2030.
  • Distinguishing our businesses as partners of choice in international supply chains.
  • Positioning Quebec as an exemplary and attractive hub for responsible investors and companies.

A collaborative and structuring initiative

This project is built on an unprecedented collaboration among six industrial clusters:

These clusters are pooling their expertise, networks, and resources to create a strong collective lever, without adding financial or operational burdens to any single group. The approach builds on past experiences, including Réseau d’apprentissage en finance durable et action climatique destiné aux PME québécoises, BCTQ’s On Tourne Vert program, and Aéro Montréal’s eco-responsibility initiatives.

Project objectives

    • Mobilize more than 1,000 companies and measure the GHG emissions of 230 businesses.
    • Stimulate climate action through three pillars:
      • Awareness and mobilization
      • Preparation for action
      • Support for action
    • Highlight intersectoral collaboration as a driver of performance and transition.

What this project offers in practice

  • Awareness activities tailored to each sector.
  • Practical tools to launch or structure a GHG reduction strategy.
  • Targeted support to move from theory to action.

Launch planned for Winter 2026

I.M.P.A.C.T. will be officially launched in Winter 2026. Until then, the clusters will continue co-creating and setting up project activities with their members, partners, and sponsors.
